www.studentsrebuild.org inspires young people worldwide to connect, learn and take collective action on critical global issues. Developed by the Bezos Family Foundation in response to the Haiti earthquake, this organization raised money to rebuild Haitian schools. The website now offers many ways to take action or donate. Currently they are focusing on global efforts to provide clean, safe drinking water around the world.
www.facingthefuture.org offers teachers’ guides (some are free) for curriculum and student service learning and action projects. The free lessons focus on climate change, conversation, and civics. They offer a lesson on the significance of the Puget Sound and the impacts of humans on it for grades 6-8 and 9-12 which culminates in a writing project - a digital public service announcement. The link for “Creative Action” offers “Fast Facts and Quick Action” and “Service Learning Projects.”
